If the account gets approved by Google, contextual ads will start appearing in various locations of the website. Your website would be automatically crawled by Google’s spiders in order to know more about your website’s pages. This helps Google bots in putting the best-fitting ads on your website. For example, if you love to blog about shoes, Google bots will take that as a clue and will put ads related to socks and footwear on your website. They do so by automatically checking their ads database and finding the most related ads on the basis of your WordPress website. It is obvious that a person who is reading about shoes is more likely to buy footwear than someone who is researching info about cyber security. Makes sense?

Thank you for your reply 🙂 I am certainly willing to make the switch to .org and self-hosting, but I am not sure how to go about self-hosting. I purchase my domain name (ashlimontgomery.com) from DirectNic which might have a hosting option. And that’s about the extent of my knowledge or understanding of self-hosting. Where do I go to begin that process? If I get that figured out, which themes would you recommend for me? I really would like to take my blogging a step up, and I know that a really professional look that puts the content into a more user-friendly format is important to achieve that goal.
If you can’t trust a blog that has a mascot with a monocle, who can you trust? WP Mayor is one of the best WordPress blogs because it has a little bit of everything for WordPress users. Thanks for your helpful instructions about a blog. I would like to start selling my photos but don’t want to write on a blog every day. I installed WordPress and got a domain name but I don’t know if I should pay for hosting if I don’t sell photos. Do you think it would be better to go for a 14 day free trial on wix, etc. or go the free self-hosting route?

Hello – I have been blogging on WordPress.org for a while and really like it. I have been using Mailchimp to collect email addresses and email my blog from that site. But, I am always having to re-create the blog on Mailchimp before I mail. Am I not doing something correctly? It seems redundant to have to the the blog twice (first on WP on my website and then on Mailchimp). Any thoughts? BYW – this was a very helpful article.
WordPress also features integrated link management; a search engine–friendly, clean permalink structure; the ability to assign multiple categories to posts; and support for tagging of posts.
