In case you don’t see the red frame with code block number and name (as shown below) this means that the code is not inserted there (before the second paragraph) and you need to check settings. If you are unable to figure out the reason for not inserting the code block you can use debugging function Log Processing which will append the insertion log at the end of each page – switch to page source and at the end of page there should be a log as HTML comment showing settings used, the status of each code block and the reason why it is not inserted. Check Debugging for more.

Thanks for your helpful instructions about a blog. I would like to start selling my photos but don’t want to write on a blog every day. I installed WordPress and got a domain name but I don’t know if I should pay for hosting if I don’t sell photos. Do you think it would be better to go for a 14 day free trial on wix, etc. or go the free self-hosting route?
Thank you for all the info! This site is exactly what I have been looking for to help start my Blog or website. Ultimately, I would like to monetize my site but I’m not sure if I should start with a Blog or Website first. My understanding is all Blogs are websites but not all websites are Blogs. I assume if I follow your set up steps for a Blog, I can start with that and add or link the other when and if necessary? For the most flexibility and opportunity would you start with a Blog or a website or both simultaneously? My ideas involve home design, and decorating.

It lets you keep using plugins that extend it, add old-style meta boxes, or otherwise depend on the previous editor. To install, visit your plugins page and click the “Install Now” button next to “Classic Editor”. After the plugin finishes installing, click “Activate”. That’s it!

Hi, Thanks for the excellent list! I am currently searching for a WP theme and am a bit lost in the jungle. I am trying to look for emails to be able to ask the webpage authors a few things before buying, but seems I cannot find any such support email. Do you know if these themes always have support forums only, where anyone can see which troubles you are encountering and by adding your web address in connection with problems, that is searchable, too..? Have you figured out some other way to ask questions privately?

Thank you for your reply 🙂 I am certainly willing to make the switch to .org and self-hosting, but I am not sure how to go about self-hosting. I purchase my domain name (ashlimontgomery.com) from DirectNic which might have a hosting option. And that’s about the extent of my knowledge or understanding of self-hosting. Where do I go to begin that process? If I get that figured out, which themes would you recommend for me? I really would like to take my blogging a step up, and I know that a really professional look that puts the content into a more user-friendly format is important to achieve that goal.
